I see TONS of peoples questions on here every day. Each time I read someones post, I wonder to myself, hmmmm what does this persons install look like. I wonder what kind of amp they run (if any), what kind of speakers are they usings, what cables they ran, etc. Would it be possible to allot, say maybe 1-2 megs for a user profile on this bbs so that people can post pics of their installs? I know that when you click on a profile, people could list a www page to visit, but I think it would be cool if it was part of the bbs instead. I don't know how many people would be interested in using it, but I think it might be a neat idea. I have my empeg installed in a 2000 dakota and think it would be nice to show people where I mounted the amp and how many speakers I have hooked up. I am also pretty proud of the subwoofer I have that only takes up about half of my backseat. I think this might also be a nice feature for people who just got their players and might want to look at how some other people installed their players...

I guess I am suggesting that when you read someones post and click on their name, you could maybe have a link that says "view users install" or something. Anyone think that would be cool???

There are lots of pictures of installations there.

There is no provision in the BBS software for storing a photo gallery. However, many of the BBS users have their installation pictures in the photo gallery at www.riocar.org, so this is a very good idea. We could use our BBS signatures to link our install pics.

Since the BBS signature is limited in size, I have instead chosen to put the link in my bio and leave my signature as a link to my home page.

Everyone can choose to do either or both if they like.

Can anyone on the bbs post their install pics on riocar.org?

You have to log into the Riocar.org site, then request for Tom to put you up a gallery first, but after that, yes, anyone can.

Ok, cool, I tried to log in and figured out that the account doesnt carry over from here, so I set up a new account on the riocar.org site. Only problem now is that I don't know who "Tom" is....

It's a shame more people don't post pictures of their installs...

You don't have to know who Tom is, just click on the link at the top of the installation gallery that says "Request your own install gallery" or whatever it says. That'll got to Tom.

Tom, by the way, is Drakino, the owner of the riocar.org site.

I hope more people will do the same! I know a lot of people have digital cameras...

I have that form working now BTW (before it just pointed back to Riocar.org, I forgot to comment it out). The 3 people who asked for a gallery in the story comments now have one, everyone else please use the form to request a new gallery.

I have submitted one too now. I didn't see any guidelines for this. What size pictures are best? Do you want captions? etc. I suppose this is in the FAQ but I didn't see it.

I have been lurking for a couple months, but decided to post my very "basic" install page here.

I bought a 10gb and ended up receiving a 20gb... thanks SB!!!

When you get your own install gallery, it will give you all of those options yourself.

The install gallery will accept any size photo and will make three versions of each photo: Original size, "web" size, and a thumbnail for the photo selection screen.

Then it will allow you to enter your own captions.

Dallas, the hosted site where you put your install pics is down at the moment I tried to look at them. When you get a chance, put them up at the RioCar.org install gallery, too.

Keep your eyes on the temp, though, as it's sitting right above your heater vents.

And while we're on the subject, anyone notice Sally Crewe has her V-8 MGB pics up in the gallery? Pretty cool stuff.

That install is actually part of her complete restoration project on that car. I agree, it's impressive.
